Genuinely didn't know what to expect from this event other than a night of dressing up as a vampire and drinking cocktails... But it was so much better than that! The community that The Arcanist's Tavern has built are so kind and accepting welcoming my craziness without a second thought. I'm usually terrified to dance, but the dance teachers were supportive and made all those worries go away - I even went back to dance another time! But one of the major highlights for me was the social deduction game we played. I was expecting we'd get in to groups and do some werewolf or coup or those types of board games about spotting people lying etc. but no, this was a full immersive experience. The organisers crafted a brilliant story and kept everyone's attention throughout. They told us there was a murder of an ancient vampire and even got 6 random people there to role play and act as one of the 6 suspects. Everyone else had to go around questioning them and trying to piece together the story with little dribbles of clues that the organisers left us. I was able to pretend I was a vampire detective and when the suspect was revealed and voted out I felt so validated for putting all the clues together. Genuinely how I want to spend every Halloween or spooky Holiday from now on!
